Professor Cass R. Sunstein announced as speaker at El-Erian Institute launch event

The El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy is delighted to welcome Professor Cass R. Sunstein to Cambridge as their guest speaker for the Institute’s launch event. Prof. Sunstein's talk will be introduced by the Academic Director of the El-Erian Institute, Prof Lucia A Reisch, with a welcome address given by Dr Mohamed El-Erian, President of Queens’ College.

Prof. Sunstein is among the most cited and most-read legal scholars worldwide. In 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Holberg Prize (the “Nobel” for the humanities) acknowledging his outstanding contributions to research in various fields, including behavioural public policy. Prof. Sunstein’s impact has been equally strong on research and policy in the fields of environmental issues, climate change, and public health.

Prof. Sunstein will speak on the topic of 'Welfare Now', reviewing the parameters that policy makers must take into consideration if behaviourally informed interventions such as nudges, taxes, subsidies, bans, and mandates are to achieve societal benefit.

The El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy (EEI)

The El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy (EEI) is a new research centre at the Cambridge Judge Business School where it will draw upon the research and expertise of the business school and the University of Cambridge. The Institute focuses on gaining a better understanding of the interaction between human behaviour and decision making, particularly in the presence of uncertainty and insecurity, with the goal of improving society’s collective wellbeing and quality of life.
