A message from The Revd Anna Jones, Queens’ College Chaplain:

Dear all,

I’m pleased to write with an update about live-streaming services from Queens’ Chapel ahead of this year’s Giving Day on 13 May.

Generously supported by alumni, we are now at the end of a 3-year project to install an audiovisual system in our unique late nineteenth-century Chapel.

This comprised three key elements :

  • a lighting upgrade;
  • microphones to enhance the spoken word;
  • video infrastructure to enable live-streaming of services (with watch-back capacity) supported by high-quality audio capture of the Choir and organ.

The completion of this work enables us to engage with the wider College membership beyond Cambridge, and to reach out to prospective applicants to share the regular rhythm of choral worship during term time, and the breadth and depth of our weekly visiting preachers.

Under the direction of Nicholas Morris, the Chapel Choir at Queens’ has matured into an accomplished and versatile ensemble of musicians that is popular with its members and is firmly established on the Cambridge choral map.

We are glad and proud to be able to share this richness with you via our dedicated YouTube channel (@queenschapel1891), and hope you will join our subscribers and make it a habit to tune into Choral Evensong at your alma mater on Sundays at 5.45pm and Wednesdays at 6.30pm, and Choral Compline on Fridays at 9pm (or at other times at your convenience via the YouTube channel).

We also continue to welcome alumni in Chapel in person (many of you are still in short travelling distance of College), whether regularly or occasionally.

A full list of services, together with an up-to-date music list for each term is available on the Chapel pages of the Queens’ website.

Queens’ Giving Day (13 May) happily falls this year on the eve of Ascension Day, which we will mark at Choral Evensong on Wednesday 13 May at 6.30pm. Will you join us?

With grateful thanks once again to all who have supported us financially in this endeavour, and in anticipation for your engagement online, which is a significant encouragement to all those who work hard to maintain this important heritage.

Yours ever,

Anna Jones
