Access and Outreach

The admissions team at Queens’ is committed to admitting students based solely on academic potential, irrespective of background.

At Queens’ we know some students are hesitant to apply to Cambridge University due to stereotypes about the University’s culture and perceived barriers to entry. However, factors such as where you live, what sort of school you attend, or your family’s financial background should never prevent a student from realising their potential at any university.

We encourage applications from students whose schools have little or no experience of sending students to Cambridge, students who may be the first in their family to progress to higher education, or students who may have spent time in care.

Prospective applicants are welcome to visit Queens’ at any time outside of our exam term (when college is closed to all visitors) – simply ask at the Porters Lodge on Silver Street for a map and self-led tour leaflet.

Queens’ College has two Schools Liaison Officers – Olivia O’Neill and Cathy Wardle. They are always pleased to hear from students, parents and schools, so please do not hesitate to email them. They lead our team of friendly Student Ambassadors, current undergraduates who support our outreach work as well as our Open Days and Offer Holders events.

Elijah Denning is the JCR Access Officer and a current undergraduate at Queens’ College. As well as supporting the work that our Schools Liaison Officers do, Elijah is also the lead for outreach undertaken by Queens’ students.
