Official Fellow, Director of Studies in English

Dr Sarah Haggarty, MA, MPhil, PhD. College Lecturer in English. Joint Director of Studies in English.

College

At Queens’ I teach ‘Literature and its Contexts, 1660-1870’, ‘Lyric’, and ‘Practical Criticism and Critical Practice’. I also supervise dissertations.

Research

I work primarily on long eighteenth-century British writing and culture, and have a special interest in the intersections of literary studies, anthropology, religious studies, and economics. I am an expert in the study of William Blake, and have also worked, largely, on theories of gift-giving and exchange, and phenomenologies of timing and tempo.

Department

In the English Faculty I lecture on ‘ things’ and material culture; travel, trade, and empire; and William Blake. I also teach the MPhil in Eighteenth-Century and Romantic Studies.
