Cambridge crews will once again take to the River Thames this weekend to face Oxford in the annual Boat Race. After last year’s clean sweep for Cambridge, the 2026 squads are aiming to repeat that remarkable success.

Josh Moore  (2021) played a key role in last year’s victory for the Men’s Lightweight crew, helping secure a decisive 4.5-length win over Oxford. Returning this year as President, he is optimistic about the crew’s chances:

“The CUBC Lightweight Men have developed into a really strong squad this year. After successful results at Head of the Charles in Boston and Fours’ Head in London, we are looking forward to the Boat Race on 3rd April, where we hope to extend our winning streak against Oxford to five.”

Remarkably, Josh only began rowing after arriving at Queens’ in 2021.

“I learned to row at Queens’, and it has been a huge part of my university experience. Queens’ Boat Club taught me that staying fit and healthy and academics should go hand-in-hand.”

As he progressed to rowing at university level, Queens’ continued to support him in balancing the demands of elite sport with academic study.

“Queens’ has always made every effort to support me as I have balanced the time commitment of rowing with my studies. I was also fortunate to receive an endowed sports bursary from the College last year.”

Following the Boat Race, Josh is looking ahead to returning to Queens’ colours for the May Bumps campaign.

As the weekend approaches, we wish Josh, the Lightweight crew, and all Cambridge teams the very best of luck.
