Alumni High Table Dining

Your Dining Rights

Alumni who hold an MA, other Master’s degree or a higher degree from the University of Cambridge, or who have held PDRA status (‘Members’), are welcome to dine at High Table during Full Term.

  • Dining is available on Thursdays and Sundays during Full Term.
  • A Member may dine for free as a guest of the College at High Table once each term, provided a Fellow or other authorised person is present to preside.
  • If a Member happens to know an SCR Member and is able to arrange to dine with him or her on some other day when there is a High Table dinner, this will also be possible, and can be counted against the allowance of free meals, as above.
  • There will be a ceiling of four Members on any given day.

It is regrettably not normally possible for spouses/partners to dine at the High Table, as alumni are invited to dine as guests of the College.

On the evening that you have booked in to dine, we would be grateful if you could arrive at the Senior Combination Room on AA Staircase in the Cripps Building no later than 7.10 pm for drinks before dinner. The dress code is smart, but it is not necessary to wear a gown. Please introduce yourself to those present: the presiding fellow will host you and make sure that things run smoothly.

If you are no longer able to dine, please email alumni@queens.cam.ac.uk as soon as possible to inform us of your cancellation, so that your space may be reallocated.

Please note that if you are planning to attend as a group, we strongly recommend that you email alumni@queens.cam.ac.uk before booking to enquire whether there are sufficient spaces remaining on the date you are hoping to book. We can also advise which of the remaining dates have sufficient availability for your booking.

Alumni may book to dine a minimum of a week in advance. In the unlikely event that no SCR members are dining, alumni will be informed of the cancellation two working days in advance.
