Celebrating 575 years of Queens' College

2023 marked 575 years since Queens’ College was founded by Queen Margaret of Anjou and Andrew Dokett in 1448. To celebrate the College’s history, we asked our community of alumni and friends to make an investment in the future of Queens’ by giving £5.75. We are delighted to announce that the campaign raised a total of £32,000! We are immensely grateful to all those who donated in this landmark year for the College.

- 180 donors, 112 of whom donated to Queens' for the first time
- The campaign reached donors from as far away as Hong Kong and Australia
- Donor matriculation years ranged from 1949 to 2022, including several current students
- Gift amounts included £5.75, £57.50, £575 and £5,750
- 22 donors have made regular gifts and joined the 1448 Society

Our supporters doubled their impact thanks to a very generous donor who pledged to match all donations received up to a total of £10,000. This meant that gifts were matched pound for pound until we reached £20,000!

Given this special occasion, we sent a limited-edition Queens’ 575 anniversary coaster to all those who gave to the campaign before April 15th 2024 as a celebratory gift.

All donations to the 575 Campaign contributed to the Unrestricted Fund. This fund is vital in ensuring that the College can adapt to pressing and urgent needs in a timely manner, particularly during periods of financial uncertainty.

Those who wished to make a regular gift (i.e., monthly, annually or quarterly) also became members of The 1448 Society for Regular Givers. Members of The 1448 Society are entitled to several exciting benefits, detailed here.
