Videos from Bumps

If you didn't manage to make it out to the Bumps last week, check out videos of the Queens' crews.

Men 1 Saturday

M1, starting at station 7 (under the A14 bridge), are chased by Clare M1 almost from the beginning. Clare, without their bells and whistles today, are only a canvas behind Queens' around Grassy Corner, by the Plough, and into Long Reach. In Long Reach, Clare have overlap on Queens' from 4:40 until they fade at 5:30. They continue to be no more than half a length behind all the way to the top finish at Chesterton Footbridge. At the footbridge, we see the Queens' crew on the left, with Clare further back to the right.

Overall summary:
Bumped St Catharine's M1, rowed over three times. Up one place to position 7 on the river. The best position for Queens' M1 since 2008.

Women 1 Saturday

W1, starting at station 12 in Division 1, initially gain on Pembroke W1 ahead. Queens' suffers a crab just after the motorway bridge, which is quickly recovered from, and seems not to impede their progress: they are only a length behind Pembroke by First Post Corner. Around Grassy Corner, stroke side catch their blades on the bank, but nevertheless they close to half a length on Pembroke in Plough Reach. In Long Reach, Pembroke finally pull clear, but Churchill W1 suddenly come up from behind. Churchill have overlap on Queens' from 6:30 onwards, before the Railings. Queens' seat 7 shortens her stroke to avoid premature contact. Just when Churchill start fading, they manage to steer across and bump, at 7:40, around the White House area. An epic struggle for W1, and the second-most exciting Queens' race this season, but in the end they lost, and earned their spoons. This was the boat that won their blades in the Fairbairns earlier this year.

Overall results:
Bumped by Christ's W1, Girton W1, Pembroke W1, Churchill W1. Down four places, to position 13 on the river.
