Studying in the Library

*Update 4th February: study spaces are now available in select rooms*

Queens' Library has several study spaces available for the academic year 2020-21. All spaces are available from 7:00am to 2:00am daily, but please observe the rules of each area and do not enter if you have any coronavirus symptoms. Cleaning materials are available in all spaces for you to clean your desks if you wish, and Housekeeping will be doing a daily clean of each area, paying particular attention to touchpoints. Face coverings are required to be worn at all times.

We currently have study spaces available in the following rooms:

  • Old Hall - 8 spaces
  • Bowett Room - 7 spaces
  • Armitage Room (graduates only) - 5 spaces

These study spaces are unreserved and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to allow Housekeeping to clean the desks each day, please ensure that you clear your desk of all belongings and rubbish once you are finished. Please be considerate to other users and do not leave belongings on your desk if you plan to be away for more than a short break.

Windows must be kept open in all study spaces to improve ventilation and reduce the chances of Covid-19 transmission. Therefore, we would advise bringing warm clothing or a blanket if you plan on spending time in these rooms. We will increase capacity and/or availability of other rooms as necessary if the situation improves. The Library is currently not available as a study space, but is still open for borrowing and returning books.
