Poetry Prizes 2017

The information presented on this page relates to an event or a period in the academic year that has now passed; it will shortly be updated, and this notice removed, in readiness for the next academic year.

The College has been given money by the families of former pupils to endow two poetry prizes in their memory.

Sam Hadfield Poetry Prize

Eligibility: Queens' undergraduate students
Value: £100

This prize is to encourage Queens’ undergraduates, not solely from the English Department, to write poetry both as an art form and as a means of expressing their feelings.

Henry Frederick Farr Poetry Prize

Eligibility: All Queens' students
Value: £100

This prize was set up in 1981 and is open to all student members of Queens’.

Application process

It is not necessary to specify for which prize you are entering. Entries should not be more than 200 lines of verse in length and may consist of a single poem or a group of poems. They should be sent to the Senior Tutor via: tutorial.secretary@queens.cam.ac.uk.
