The Rev'd Timothy Charles Harling, BSci (Southampton), BA. Fellow, Chaplain, Dean of Chapel.
My days in college start at 6am where I do admin before morning prayer at 8:30am in Chapel. From 9am we are 'open' for students to come by. I am happy for any students to visit and I hope that my faith makes me into a caring individual and enables me to help everyone reach their full potential, regardless of faith and background. Having studied and worked elsewhere, I think it was beneficial to come to Queens' from outside the collegiate system, with fresh eyes. As an academic community we need to work out how to get the best out of people. I'm also conscious of how scary faith can be - my hope is to make people, unfamiliar with religion, feel at ease and welcome. Although I'm an Anglican Priest I want to engage and enable people of all faiths. If you're a Sikh, Hindu, Muslim or Christian student it's my job to enable you to practice your faith. My role also falls as part of the Welfare Team with the new system being in place since 2013, working alongside the Tutorial team. Our aim is to engage students proactively before problems become acute and solutions reactive, and it's rewarding to see it's making a difference . I like to be around at formal and informal gatherings and get to know the students - especially in their first year.
