Request to Change Subject
For undergraduates who wish to be considered for a change of subject
- Change of Subject Application This form should be completed when requesting a change of Tripos. The completed form should be returned to the Tutorial Office (Essex 5). Deadline for completion and return of request is 7 June 2019 (for the 19/20 academic year start).
- Change of Course Request - Management Studies This form should be completed when requesting a change into Management Studies. Please see the section Restricted Subjects for further information.
Excess Residence Application for Summer 2019: For those students on the Termly Scheme on main site. Excess residence must be booked if you wish to stay in College for any reason after midday on 20 June 2019. This includes graduating students claiming their free period of excess residence. Completed forms to be submitted to the Accommodation Officer, Essex 1. Deadline for applications is midday, Friday 17 May 2019
Sports Bursaries - Applications will be considered at the end of Lent Term (with the exception of the Q550 which has a closing date of February)
The Mike Turner Sports Bursary: To provide an outstanding sportsperson, who requires financial help, to pursue represenative competitions in an individual, Olympic-accredited sport with the University or other teams. Funding might cover activities such as the Achilles overseas tour, warm weather training, Varsity Blue tours, British Student games etc. If no financial help is required, the award might be made in any one year to reocognise excellence by a track-and-field or cross-country athlete, the minimum standard for which would be winning a Blue. One annual award of up to £500 is available.
The Eleanor Duck Sports Bursary: To support a Queens' student(s) requiring financial help to pursue high-level sport with the University or other representative teams (National, International, British Students etc.) as an amateur (i.e., not currently competing and has not previously competed at a professional level). One annual award of up to £500 is available.
The Lill Award: To provide an outstanding sportsperson(s) who requires financial help, to pursue represenative competitions in an Olympic accredited sport with the University or other teams. Funding might cover activities such as the Achilles overseas tour, warm weather training and the University squads, Varsity Blue tours, British Student games etc. If no financial help is required, the award might be made in any one year to recognise excellence by track-and-field or cross-country athlete, the minimum standard for which would be winning a Blue. The Richard Hargreaves Sports Bursary: To support a Queens' student requiring financial help, to pursue a high-level sport with the University or other represenative teams (National, International, British Students, etc.). One annual award of up to £500 is available.
Q550 Sports Bursary: Available to members of College who participate in a sport at a University or National level with priority to recognised Blues or Half-Blues sport. The bursaries are intended to provide a contribution to the expenses incurred through participation in a sporting activity. Enquiries/applications should be sent to Dr Graham McShane, Senior Treasurer of the College Union (firstname.lastname@example.org). Deadline for applications - 1700 hrs, Friday 8th February 2019.
Subject Specific Grants
Spearing Travel Grants (Engineering): To promote technical and industrial visits abroad by engineering students which are not part of their normal coursework. Preference is given to students studying one of the branches of Engineering. Please send a brief justification of the purpose of the visit and an analysis of costs to the Senior Tutor via the Tutorial Secretary. Deadline for applications - 1 March 2019.
The Milgate Fund (Economics) - Established to support the academic and educational activities of Queens' undergraduate and graduate students reading Economics.
The Haszeldine Fund (Chemistry):To support undergraduate and postgraduate Chemistry students. Providing assistance for academic related travel; research projects; books; equipment; dissertation expenses; chemistry events and The Queens' Chemistry Society.
The Macpherson Fund in Law - To support the academic activities of Queens’ law students. Students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) can apply for a small grant to cover certain additional costs arising from their law studies through, for example, the purchase of books or the binding of a dissertation.
Architecture Expense Reclaim Form: Expenses will be reimbursed, with the approval of the Director of Studies, for 50% of the amount spent up to a maximum of £300 in any one acdemic year.
The Grahame John Dickins Award: To support postgraduate students studying at the Cavendish Laboratory. Providing assistance with academic related travel grants, research grants, unexpected hardship, fourth year/overrunning funding.
Friends of Queens' Music - application for funding: Available to any current undergraduate or postgraduate student member of Queens', or any Musical Society. Applications may be made in advance with receipts submitted within 30 days of the purchase/event. Deadlines for 2018/19 are: 9 Nov 2018, 15 Feb 2019, 17 May 2019

- The Hawks' Charitable Trust. Awards to students, undergraduate and graduate, on the basis of potential or established sporting excellence and financial need. Deadline for applications is 14 February 2019.
- Cambridge Bursary Scheme. Available to UK and EU students.
- Bell, Abbott and Barnes Funds. To provide students in financial difficulties, and particularly to those suffering unexpected hardship. Grants of up to £2,000 per annum are available.
