Queens' College is a large and complex community.  There are many roles and responsibilities covering all aspects of College life.  These pages should help you understand the various offices within College and help you find the right person.

Senior Combination Room (SCR)

Middle Combination Room (MCR)

The MCR is comprised of students studying for graduate-level qualifications such as Masters courses or a PhD.  Some members of the MCR also studied at Queens' as undergraduates but many have joined us from other institutions.

  • The MCR website contains information about organisation and facilities available to graduate students.
  • Munro students are PhD students studying at Queens' who have taken a supervising responsibility with the College.

Junior Combination Room (JCR)

Undergraduate students studying at Queens' are all members of the JCR.

College departments

The academic activities of college are supported by staff (and Fellows) in various departments.

  • The Admissions Office is responsible for undergraduate applications to Queens' and the admissions process.
  • The Tutorial Department covers all aspects of teaching, learning and welfare for current students.
  • The Bursarial Offices deal with all financial matters in College and manage the non-educational aspects of the College.
  • The Alumni and Development Office is the contact point for students after they graduate. In addition to maintaining contact with alumni, the Development Office also undertakes fundraising to support the College's activities.
  • The Porters are predominantly responsible for safety within College (including First Aid). The Porters' Lodge is also responsible for managing the entrance to College, providing directions and answering general enquiries.
  • The Catering Department runs the cafeteria and all College dining.
  • The Housekeeping Department is predominantly responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the College-owned student accommodation and other College facilities, both on the main site and at other sites in Cambridge.
  • The Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining the College buildings and repairs to the fabric of the building.
