Remembrance Sunday 2019

Yesterday, the Service of Remembrance was held in the College Chapel, to commemorate the members of Queens' who have died in conflict, particularly in the two World Wars.

The President read the Ode of Remembrance - "They shall grow not old" - and laid a wreath at the War Memorial. The two minute silence was observed at 11am and marked with the sounding of the Last Post and the Reveille. The choir sang Guest's 'For the Fallen', Ireland's 'Greater Love' and Purcell's 'Hear my Prayer'.

The names of the Members of Queens' who died in 1939-41, along with the three new names added to the Memorial this year (William Pettett, Lo Po Ching and Wong Shin Fan), were read out by The Reverend Dr Jonathan Holmes, Keeper of the College Records. The College Chaplain, the Revd Max Bayliss, gave the Homily.

The Service was attended by Fellows, students and alumni of the College. Some alumni who have gone on to serve in the military also attended the service, including Dr Patrick Roberts (1989), who served with the Royal Irish Regiment, and 2nd Lt Callum Chivers (2015), who has just passed out of Sandhurst and is now serving with the Royal Dragoon Guards (both pictured, right).
