To that end, next week we are running several Research Skills workshops aimed at both undergraduates and graduate students. These are repeat sessions of those we ran in Michaelmas Term, in case you missed out.
For undergraduates:
Google and beyond workshop: How to become an expert at finding, evaluating, and organising essential readings for your course
Save time, astound your DoS and raise your game (academically) with your ability to locate, evaluate, and organise essential and rare information in your subject area. Two sessions to be led by Dr Tim Eggington (Fellow Librarian), Lucy Woolhouse (Reader Services Librarian) and Isobel Goodman (Library Graduate Trainee) will take place on Monday 28th January at 1.00-2.00pm and 5.30-6.30pm in CC43.

Building & Organizing Bibliographies with Zotero
There are better and faster ways to build and organize a stellar bibliography besides typing it up by hand every time! This workshop will be an interactive introduction to using the free online bibliographic management system, Zotero.
We will cover how to implement and master Zotero and make it a part of your life, saving you from hours upon hours of reference hunting, re-typing references, and essay stress. Two sessions will be led by Lucy Woolhouse (Reader Services Librarian) and Isobel Goodman (Library Graduate Trainee) on Tuesday 29th January in CC43 at 1.00-2.00pm and 5.30-6.30pm.

Advanced literature searching: Google Scholar versus Web of Knowledge/Scopus
Google Scholar, Web of Knowledge, Scopus - you may have been introduced to these online databases but learning how to make the most of them can be challenging. This in-depth workshop will show you how to do ‘advanced searching’ (beyond Author / Title / Keyword) and explain the secrets and joys of citation searching, the h-index, and ‘impact factor’. It will be useful to all who need to explore their topic independently and evaluate resources. Two sessions will be led by Dr Tim Eggington (Fellow Librarian) on Wednesday 30th January at 1.00-2.00pm and 5.30-6.30pm in CC43.
