Queens' Blues

A record six Queens' rugby players are in the frame to play for the Men's University XV in the forthcoming Varsity Match on December 7.

Captain Charlie Amesbury, Andrew Craib, Tyler Hammond, Ed Loftus, Ollie Phillips and Nick Koster were all present at the Steele-Bodger match v CURUFC yesterday - the 70th anniversary match, which is a unique record in the sport. They were joined at the match by legends John Spencer (1967) - the current President of the RFU and the last Queens' captain of the Blues in 1969; and Hon Fellow Mike Gibson (1963) - also a Blues captain and a record-breaking British & Irish Lion.

We also have at least one player in the Women's Squad for the Varsity Match on the same day - Charlotte Spruzen is locking the scrum in some record-breaking performances. 55 alumni and guests are forming the Queens' party to the Varsity game - everyone is welcome to join.

Meanwhile, current Queens' student Jamie Roberts has been selected to represent Wales against New Zealand this Saturday.
