Messing about on the river

Two new Queens’ punts were launched over the weekend, just in time for the end of exams.

Hand built in mahogany, the punts are an elegant addition to the river, and provide the perfect way for current students to unwind or visiting alumni to indulge in a nostalgia fix.  On day one the booking forms were filling up fast for the rest of the month, and students were spotted at the unlikely time of 9am this morning taking advantage of the opportunity to relax on the water.

The two boats are the first of four new punts due to arrive at Queens’ this summer. One, our first ever sponsored punt, was generously provided through a donation from Dr Robert Barnes (1989), and carries his name in recognition of the gift.

If any other alumni or friends of Queens’ would be interested in providing funding for this particularly picturesque aspect of College life, and having a punt named in their honour, please contact the Alumni & Development office by email at development@queens.cam.ac.uk.
