MBE awarded to Queens' alum

Peter Jacobs (1959) has been awarded an MBE for services to British and international fencing.

Peter read Classics at Queens' and was awarded a Half Blue during his time here, as captain of the Cambridge University Fencing team. From 1961 to 1968 he was a member of the British épée team and participated in the 1964 Tokyo and 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He was captain of the British épée team from 1971 to 1976 and manager of the overall team from 1973 to 1976.

On Tuesday he was officially awarded his MBE in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
