This year, Queens’ has been represented in sporting events and Varsity matches across the board. Here are some of the achievements of students....

Varsity matches (so far...)

Congratulations to Elizabeth Neri (2020) who played for the winning Cambridge Blues in the University Women's Basketball. The final score was 56 - 53 to Cambridge in the Varsity match. Elizabeth is the recipient of The Richard Hargreaves Sports Bursary.

Flynn Ryan (2021) swam in the Varsity match in the 200m and 400m Freestyle and the 100m Butterfly. The final score overall was 50 - 40 to Oxford. Flynn is the current recipient of The Mike Turner Sports Bursary.

Elliott Stockdale (2019) captained the Blues in the Rugby League matches and what will be his final Varsity playing for the Green Lions. The result was 18 - 14 to Oxford. Last year Elliott led the team as President to the first win over Oxford in many years.

James Onley-Gregson (2020) and James Arthur (2019) played for the winning 2nd XIII in the Rugby League Varsity Matches.

Captain of the Rugby Union, Mark Paschalis (2019), went along to give his support.

Isabelle Hupez (2021) is the goalie on the Women's First Water Polo Team. They played their Varsity game in February against Oxford. Isabelle is currently being considered for Half-Blue status.

Eleanor White (2020) played No 1 string in the Varsity Squash match. Cambridge Ladies beat Oxford Ladies 5-0 and Eleanor won her match 9-0, 9-0, 9-1.

Mark Ramsdale (2020) was selected for the 102nd Australian Rules Football Varsity Match where the result was 89 - 16 to Oxford.

Tabbie Brough (2016) is the Vice-Captain of the University Ladies' Netball Blues team. Cambridge lost 59 - 38 in the Varsity Match.

Owain Houghton (2015) and Frankie Harley (2019) played for the University in the Hockey Varsity matches. Both students won Blues.

Lent Bumps

The Boat Club performed well in the Lent Bumps this year. After a rocky start, by the fifth day, the crews finished on a high with the overall scores being:

Upcoming events

Freddie Markanday (2017) has been selected for the Lightweight Men's Boat. The race will be on Sunday 20th March at 2:25pm.

Olympians Grace Prendergast (2021) and Ruby Tew (2021) have both been selected for The Boat Race which will take place on Sunday 3rd April. Grace will row in the Seven seat and Ruby in the Four seat.

Suwi Chibale (2020) became the first black student to captain the University Rugby Club (against Crawshay's XV). He won his Blue last year.

Suwi, Archie Smeaton (2019), and former England World Cup international Toby Flood (2021) are all representing the Men's Blues in the upcoming Varsity Rugby Matches at Twickenham Stadium, taking place on Saturday 2nd April.

Tabbie Brough (2016) is playing for the Women's Blues and Polly Hipkiss (2020) played for the victorious Tigers XV. Polly only took up rugby five months ago.
