War Memorial Library (student library)

Queens’ College Library is open to all college members. Its primary purpose is to support learning and research undertaken by Queens’ students as well as to provide a quiet and pleasant atmosphere in which to work.

Library opening hours are 7am until 2am daily, except during Easter Term when the Library is open until 3am, and library staff are available between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.

In addition to the study areas in the main War Memorial Library, there are also study areas in Cripps Court. All students are welcome to use the Fitzpatrick Gallery, the Lash Library at Grange Road and graduate students can use the Armitage Room.

In addition to the borrowing of library books, we are happy to offer the following additional services:

Acquiring physical books on the request of students
Arranging access to e-books and other online resources
Scanning books from our collections (either one chapter or up to 5%, whichever is greater, in compliance with copyright restrictions) and sending them by email
Comb-binding for dissertations (£1 per binding)

War Memorial Library

Access to the Library is by University Card, and is accessible only to Queens’ members. Old members and visiting scholars are welcome to use the Library to access specific items or to consult materials unique to Queens’, upon prior arrangement. Please contact the College Librarian if you have any questions about our collections and we will do our best to help remotely, or arrange a visit.

Queens’ College’s student library was named ‘The War Memorial Library’ in commemoration of Queens’ members killed during the Second World War. The Library is housed in the College’s original 1448 chapel, on Old Court, and is entered from Library Passage that links Old Court and Walnut Tree Court.
