We are fortunate in having multiple rooms across the site suitable for study. We are also making additional arrangements to convert alternative locations which are being upgraded over the summer with large screens, web cam facilities and seating ideal for socially distanced supervisions, group study, or just a space to relax and make a video call to friends and family.
These spaces will be bookable through the online booking system
The Risk Assessments and Capacity Plan are based on standard events or working arrangements. If alternative setups, events or activities are planned that do not fit within these assessments, then please contact the H&S officer for help in developmenting specific plans.
The College War Memorial Library (WML) is now open to readers for shelf browsing, borrowing and return books. Please just come into the WML and use the self-issue system as usual.
Most of the social distancing measures in the War Memorial have now been relaxed. Please follow all hand-sanitising and distancing instructions as indicated in library notices. It remains necessary to keep library windows open in order to maintain ventilation
Usual library opening hours are in operation (7am-2am, daily), and usual library rules for all reading areas apply (silent study; no food), except the Armitage Room grad space which is open 24/7 and in which food is allowed.
We expect that readers will take responsibility for their own health and that of others while in library areas. It is strongly recommended that people continue to wear face coverings when passing through all library areas, and in particular, the WML entrance area.
For those wishing to work in a more socially distanced environment, study spaces remain available in the Fitzpatrick Gallery (7 spaces) and Erasmus Room (8 spaces).
Please remember that Queens’ Library staff remain available as usual to answer library and e-resource queries via email, and to send books to students working from home.
The library team is keen to assist with all library and information requirements. In particular, we are happy to:
- Arrange access to ebooks, and purchase WML books (please complete this form).
- Email scans from WML books (copyright restrictions allow for one chapter or 5% of any single book).
- Leave WML books at the porters' lodge for collection (for those who don't wish to come into the WML).
- Deliver WML books to rooms of students who are isolating in college accommodation.
- Where necessary, post WML books to student addresses in the UK. Please just let us know what you need.
Students who are self-isolating
If you are self-isolating and in college please contact the library if you wish to borrow library books. We will be happy to assist.
