Ms Emma Sibbald

Emma Sibbald, MA (Hons) (St And), MSt (Oxon.); Rare Books Curator (Maternity cover).

I hold a one-year fixed-term post as the Rare Books Curator in the Old Library. My responsibilities include cataloguing the Old Library’s collection of early printed books, curating and promoting exhibitions, and facilitating library outreach through social media, visits, and workshops for schools and the general public.

Research

For my Master’s degree in English literature and book history, I wrote a dissertation on the presence and significance of non-elite voices in eighteenth-century gentry scrapbooks. I am fascinated by the history of women’s reading, particularly the presence of women in institutional and university libraries before 1830.
