Course Details

Law at Cambridge allows students to understand law in its historical and social contexts, and to examine its general principles and techniques. It develops skills in analysis, interpretation and logical reasoning, and challenges students to interrogate questions of ethical judgement, political liberty, and social control.  The Cambridge course primarily focusses on English law, but there are opportunities to study other legal systems, including civil (Roman) law, EU law and international law. Theoretical and sociological aspects of law, such as jurisprudence or parts of criminology, can also be studied.

Information about the course structure, departmental teaching arrangements, offered topics and options can be found on the University of Cambridge website: Law Course Outline

Law at Queens'

Undergraduates reading Law receive a ‘supervision’ (or tutorial) in each subject once a fortnight, usually in groups of three or four students. We try to ensure that as many subjects as possible are taught within the College.

The College has an active student-led Law Society, and the Queens' Distinguished Lecture in Law is an annual event which invites members of the College and distinguished guests to engage with the most advanced thinking on the law.

Law at Queens' is supported by the Macpherson Fund.
