Accommodation and catering during your interview
In order to ensure we can fit all interviews into the pre-Christmas period, we will be holding some interviews during the University term. This means that anyone being interviewed before 4 December cannot be offered accommodation in College. Anyone who wants accommodation before 3 December will have to make their own arrangements. The Cambridge Tourist Office will be able to assist.
For the first two days of the main interview period only (3 and 4 December) Queens’ students are still in residence. This means that the available accommodation is very limited for the nights of 2, 3 and 4 December. If you live in or around the Cambridgeshire area we will not expect you to ask for accommodation. If you live in or around any of the areas that are easily accessible by train (London for example), we will not expect you to ask for accommodation. Anyone who lives farther away than this can request accommodation but we cannot guarantee it. See the link above to see where to find alternative accommodation. Please wait until you have received a confirmation e-mail from the Accommodation Officer before making any travel arrangements.
Queens’ accommodation consists of single occupancy rooms. You will not be expected to share a room with anyone else. We cannot supply accommodation for anyone other than the interview candidate. If someone is travelling with you, they must arrange their own accommodation outside the College.
If you are staying in Queens’ overnight, there is no charge for the first night. Anyone who requires more than one night’s accommodation should contact us (email@example.com) to enquire – we cannot guarantee more than one night and any extra nights will have to be charged, at a rate of £15.00 per night. You can pick up your key from the Porters’ Lodge from 4pm the day you arrive.
You will be expected to vacate your room by 9am the following morning. We should be able to supply a storage room for your luggage (please ask the Porters' where this is), but it is not secure and you should not leave valuables in your luggage.
Whilst you are here you will be given a free lunch and those staying overnight will have a free breakfast. If you are staying overnight and require dinner, you can purchase a meal at the cafeteria or are welcome to walk into Cambridge where there are many restaurants of all kinds. If you would like to book accommodation please complete this form. Please submit this form by Friday 23 November.
