The College owns four one-bedroom flats at Marlowe Road in Newnham village just half a mile from the central college site.
The flats are at the following locations:
19 Marlowe Road (Upper and Lower flats), Cambridge, CB3 9JW and 35 Marlowe Road (Upper and Lower flats), Cambridge, CB3 9JW
The accommodation is suitable for couples without children. Ground floor flats have a garden area for which gardening equipment is provided.
A flat usually comprises a double bedroom, lounge and kitchen areas and a bathroom with WC. Each flat is furnished slightly differently however the following items are typically provided; a double bed, wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside table, bedside lamp, desk, office chair, study lamp, easy chairs, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine (or washer dryer), dining table and chairs. A variety of kitchen utensils and equipment is also provided. Bedding is not provided, however details of how to purchase a bedding pack will be sent to all students who are offered couples accommodation.
The charge for a flat at Marlowe Road for the 2020/21 academic year will be £2400.00 for three months. Gas, electricity and water charges are not included but will be charged in arrears based on meter readings. Further information is available in the document Schedule of Fees and Charges. No reductions will normally be given for absences from Cambridge during vacations or owing to coursework thus College owned flats are most suitable for students who intend to remain in Cambridge throughout the academic year.
The NTL Centrex CU2 telephone service is provided. The telephone account is held by the College (not by the residents), and the socket is permanently active. A telephone itself is not supplied and may need to be purchased by the resident.Telephone rental charges are included in the rent of the flat, and call charges are passed on to the residents by the College. There is a College-supplied internet service via VirginMedia, and wireless service supplied via Lapwing or Eduroam, by means of a small access point. The account is held by the College and any problems should be directed to the IT Department: firstname.lastname@example.org
Residents may park at nearby Owlstone Croft subject to obtaining a parking permit. Residents should contact the Head Porter for further details.
Students are responsible for ensuring any problems which may arise with the furnishings or fixtures within the flat are promptly reported to the appropriate college department. For building maintenance please contact email@example.com and for furnishings contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
On arrival, keys should be collected from the Porters' Lodge on the main Queens' College site in Silver Street and must be returned to the Porters' Lodge at the end of residence.
