• Publication: Francisco Berkemeier, Rokos PDRA at Queens’ College, Department of Pathology and Genetics, has published a paper in Nature Communications based on his postdoctoral research: DNA replication timing reveals genome-wide features of transcription and fragility.

• Publication: Dr Krisztina Ilko has published an article ‘Chess and Race in the Global Middle Ages’, in Speculum (2024), the flagship journal of the Medieval Academy of America, which highlights chess as an overlooked resource for exploring premodern race-making processes.

• Professor Andrew Marsham has published ‘The Umayyad Empire’, which explores the distinctive character of the Umayyad empire in its early Islamic context: its economy, society and political history.

• Professor David Menon, Head of the Division of Anaesthesia at the University of Cambridge, is leading the TBI-REPORTER project, a £9.5m research platform that brings together experts around the UK to better predict how a certain injury is likely to affect a patient with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and offer them individualised care.
• Lifetime achievement award from The Neuro Anaesthesia & Critical Care Society.

• Publication: Dr Joana Nascimento, Rokos PDRA, has published her book ‘Working the Fabric: Resourcefulness, Belonging and Island Life in Scotland’s Harris Tweed Industry’, the first in-depth anthropological study of the renowned textile industry.

• Publication: Professor Graham Denyer Willis has published ‘Keep the Bones Alive:
  Missing People and the Search for Life in Brazil’, an exploration of the ‘missing people’ phenomenon in São Paulo and the silence behind these disappearances.
• Dr Graham Denyer Willis has won a Philip Leverhulme prize for his exceptional research on ‘everyday patterns of political order with attention to policing and inequality, via ethnography and a focus on Brazil’.
• College Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Education.

• Publication: Professor Lucia Reisch co-authors ‘Review: Do green defaults reduce meat consumption?’
• Publication: Professor Lucia Reisch has published ‘Sugar-sweetened beverage tax implementation processes: results of a scoping’.
• Publication: Professor Lucia Reisch has published ‘Healthy eating in the wild: An experience-sampling study of how food environments and situational factors shape out-of-home dietary success’.
• Publication: Professor Lucia Reisch has published ‘Battle of the primes – The effect and interplay of health and hedonic primes on food choice’.
• Professor Lucia Reisch, Nobel Prize Winner Professor Richard Thaler, and BIT CEO and founder Professor David Halpern answer the question: Can we Nudge to Net Zero? ahead of the #COP26 UN Climate Change Conference
• Publication: This paper focuses on policies that are enlightened by behavioural insights (BIs)

• Publication: Dr Benisty received honorable mention from the Gravity Research Foundation for his work on “The dark side of the torsion: dark energy from propagating torsion”
• Publication: Dr Benisty has published his research on the latest estimation of our galaxy, the Milky Way with the mass of Andromeda galaxy, in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

• Professor James Diggle has published a revised edition of the second of the three volumes of his Oxford Classical Text of Euripides (forty four years after the publication of the first edition!), and a companion volume, Last Thoughts on Euripides. These bring to a close a lifetime’s work on Euripides.
• Publication: Why read the Characters? Professor James Diggle looks at Theophrastos
• Publication: Professor Diggle has translated and edited Theophrastus’ Characters, a collection of 30 short character-sketches of various types of individuals with additional commentary on every feature of the text and its interpretation.
• Professor James Diggle has been awarded a CBE for his services to classical scholarship.

• Professor Fentiman received an honorary doctorate from the University of Cyprus at a ceremony in Nicosia.

• A new CERN result Dr Williams has been working on has been made public. This is the first result of its kind to come out of ATLAS using the full “run 2” dataset (i.e. 2015-2018) and is an exciting avenue for the next data-taking run.

• Congratulations to Peter McMurray for receiving a Pilkington Prize for excellence in teaching. Dr McMurray transformed several areas in the Faculty of Music, including the course design and delivery of all three years of the Tripos.

• Congratulations to Ella McPherson for receiving a Pilkington Prize for excellence in teaching. Dr McPherson’s inclusivity and ‘hands-on approach’ in the Department of Sociology means that she has received high approval from her students, and has been praised as a caring and engaging teacher.
• Dr Ella McPherson has been awarded a CRASSH Cambridge Early Career Fellowship for Easter term 2022. The title of the project is ‘Neo-Luddism in the Digital Age: Resisters, Quitters, Destroyers and Visionaries against Contemporary Technologies’.
• Dr Ella McPherson and Cambridge’s Digital Verification Corps (DVC) have won the 2020 Technology-Enabled Learning Prize from Cambridge University Press.

• Professor Marie Edmonds has been named a 2022 Geochemistry Fellow of the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry.
• Winner of the Joanne Simpson Medal for Mid-Career Scientists from the American Geophysical Union.

• Mohamed El-Erian appeared in a documentary series on BBC2: ‘The Decade the Rich Won’. Experts in Britain discuss how the economic shocks brought on by Brexit and the Covid-19 crisis have created a side effect of rising financial inequality.

• Mr Paul Greengrass has been awarded a CBE for his services to the Arts.

• Prof Julia Gog receives her OBE at Great St Mary’s Church, Cambridge on Monday 15th November
• Publication: This paper presents work on SARS-CoV-2 transmission in UK higher education settings.
• Publication: Vaccine escape in a heterogeneous population: insights for SARS-CoV-2 from a simple model.
• Professor Julia Gog has been recognised in the Birthday Honours List for her “services to Academia and the Covid-19 response”.

• Publication: Dr Mona Jebril (2012) has published a report on “The Political Economy of Health in the Gaza Strip”, providing a critical analysis on the key historical and contextual factors determining the direction and formulation of health policy in Gaza.
• Dr Mona Jebril’s play The Loop will feature at the Hotbed Theatre Festival in July 2021.

• Publication: Professor Gamble’s ‘The Western Ideology and other essays’ debate the ideologies that have shaped Western politics, with an introduction about his time at Queens’ as an undergraduate and Fellow.
• Publication: Professor Gamble’s ‘After Brexit and other essays’ depicts an insight into the debates that influence British politics and Britain’s place in the world.’

• Professor Clare Byrant’s fascinating study on farmed carnivores recent appearance in an article for the Daily Mail
• Named a Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science for 2020.

• Recipient of the Bicentenary Medal from the Linnean Society.

• Publication: Technopopulism: The New Logic of Democratic Politics
• The rise of the technopopulists, published in The New Statesman. Dr Bickerton was recently elected to a Chair at the Free University in Brussels (ULB).

• Publication: The Giant’s Almanac

• College Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Education.

• Named in the Wired Smart List 2021, of 32 innovators who are building a better future.

• Publication: The Prime Ministers By Iain Dale. Featuring a chapter from Dr Thompson.

• Publication: The Creative Underclass: Youth, Race, and the Gentrifying City

• Publication: Converting Britannia: Evangelicals and British Public Life, 1770-1840

• His website helps students prepare for University Engineering Admissions interviews. Professor Prager recently became the Senior Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor on Online Education.
