Spearing travel grants

Spearing Travel Fund

The Governing Body established a fund in memory of Kenneth Spearing as a result of a donation which he made to the College.  The purpose of the fund is to promote technical and industrial visits abroad by students which are not part of their normal coursework or research.

Grants may be made from the fund to any resident member of the College in statu pupillari with preference to students studying one of the branches of Engineering including:  civil, mechanical, electrical and electronic, aeronautical, chemical and manufacturing.  The total value of all awards will be approximately £400.

Applications should take the form of a brief explanation, on a single side of paper, of the purpose of the visit together with a brief analysis of the costs involved.  All successful applicants will be required to submit a brief report on their visit at the beginning of the Michaelmas Term after their travels.

The Spearing Fund opens for applications in Febraury and closes at noon on the first Friday of March. An email, containing details of the fund and the closing date, is sent to all Engineering students and Directors of Studies when the Fund application period opens.
