Restricted subjects

Management Studies Tripos

Applications for a change of subject to the Management Studies Tripos are made through the Tutorial Office before the end of April in the penultimate year of an undergraduate course of study.  Students already in the final year of their Tripos are not eligible to apply.  Potential applicants should consult the Director of Studies in Management, Dr Pitelis, before lodging an application to change subjects (forms are available from the Tutorial Office).  Offers are normally made by the Judge Business School in early July.  The Management Studies Tripos is selective and not all who apply are accepted.

The Management Studies Tripos is a one-year Tripos that, at Queens', can be taken only by students who have not already completed Part II of another Tripos.*  For the vast majority of students, this means that the Management Studies Tripos is taken in their third year.  Students who are taking a four-year course (for example, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, and certain NST stubjects) are normally eligible to apply to Management Studies in what would have been their final (fourth) year.

It is not possible to take the Management Studies Tripos immediately on entry to Cambridge (that is, in your first year).

* Note: The structure of some Triposes (for example, Mathematics and certain NST subjects) is such that this will not apply in all cases.  In these instances, the relevant eligibility criterion is that the student is applying in the penultimate year of their course (so as to change to Management Studies in their final year).
