The charge for a flat at Trafalgar Road for the 2011/12 academic year ranges from £2073 to £2127 for three months. Prices vary according to the facilities and outlook of the flats. Gas, electricity and water charges are not included. Each quarter an advanced charge will be made for utilities. At the end of the quarter this will be refunded and the actual cost, as calculated from the utility meter readings, will be charged. Further information is available in the document "Schedule of Fees and Charges to Members". No rent reductions will normally be given for absences from Cambridge during vacations or owing to coursework thus College owned flats are most suitable for students who intend to remain in Cambridge throughout the academic year.
The NTL Centrex CU2 telephone service is provided. The telephone account is held by the College (not by the residents), and the socket is permanently active. Telephone rental charges are included in the rent of the flat, and call charges are passed on to the residents by the College. It may be necessary for the resident to provide a telephone instrument to plug into the telephone socket (depending on the generosity of former residents). Internet service is available at all Boathouse flats.
A couple of parking spaces are available to residents of the Boathouse flats. Residents should contact the Head Porter for further details.
Students are responsible for ensuring any problems which may arise with the furnishings or fixtures within the flat are promptly reported to the appropriate college department. For building maintenance please contact maintenance@queens.cam.ac.uk and for furnishings and cleaning supplies contact housekeeping@queens.cam.ac.uk.
On arrival, keys should be collected from the Porters' Lodge on the main Queens' College site in Silver Street and must be returned to the Porters' Lodge at the end of residence.
