Reverend Tim Harling

The Reverend Tim Harling, BSci (Southampton), MA. Dean of Chapel, Head of Welfare.

I am the Dean of Chapel and Head of Welfare for the College.

As Dean of Chapel I work with, and ultimately look after, the Chaplain as she seeks to deliver the day to day running of the Chapel, the College Choir and the running of the Chapel building.  We are a diverse community and one that strives to include, value and learn from one another.  Whilst I am an Anglican Priest I want to engage and enable people of all faiths within their own faith communities allowing our students, staff and Fellows to practice their faith both here in College and during their time in Cambridge.

As Head of Welfare I manage the Welfare Team which is made up counsellors, therapists, nurses and others who offer pastoral care.  We work alongside the Tutors in support of students and we specialise in specific, professionalised welfare that enables our students to be and achieve all that they can be whilst here at Queens’.  We are a confidential, discreet and wide-ranging department, and we are proud to offer- what we consider- to be one of the most comprehensive support systems within Collegiate Cambridge.

At Queens’ we also want to be honest and explicit that in every institution there are issues around harassment and assault.  One major aspect of this is sexual violence. As such I am one of the 2 Harassment and Assault Officers for the College.  For further information on this important and difficult topic please see the welfare pages of the website.

I love this College. I see, time and again, how it offers opportunities, embraces all that is wonderful and changes lives.  It is, and continues to be, an inclusive community and one that wants every member to be themselves, reflecting who they are and how they are.

I am available via tch42@cam.ac.uk and my office is T2 in the Fisher building.
