Margaret of Anjou was the daughter of
René, Duke of Anjou (also Duke of
Bar, Lorraine, Calabria, Count of Provence and Piedmont, and claimed
King of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem) and wife of King Henry VI
of England. She issued her Charter to establish the Queen's
College of St Margaret and St Bernard on 15 April 1448,
the same day as the foundation stone was laid.
There were no contemporary portraits of Margaret. This travesty
of her was published centuries after her death.
The connection with her is remembered in the name of the Angevin
Room at Queens'.
