My primary role as Head of Maintenance involves day to day management of the Maintenance Department which is responsible for the maintenance of buildings, plant and services to premises on the main site together with numerous external properties including graduate accommodation, a boathouse and sportsground. The repair, maintenance and improvement of buildings, plant and services is carried out utilising a combination of directly employed staff and specialist sub contractors. I ensure compliance with regulatory leglisation including water hygiene, electrical and gas safety and liaise with the Local Authority regarding adherence to Planning, Listed Building and Building Control matters. I also provide maintenance support to other College Departments and advice in the execution of new building works.
