Simon Harris (1980, pictured right) has been chosen to umpire the 2016 BNY Mellon Boat Race on 27 March. This will be the 162nd clash between the two Universities on the Tideway and it will be the fifth occasion that Simon has umpired.
Simon got a Double First in Engineering whilst at Queens’, was President of Cambridge University Boat Club and rowed in the 1982 and 1983 races. He was also President of the Blues Committee and a member of the Hawks Club committee. Last year, he umpired the 70th Women’s Race, the first to be held on the Tideway.
Ian Middleton (2013), currently reading Geography as an undergraduate, will be hoping to cox the Light Blues for the third year in a row.
