Alumnus Oliver Rieche to attend Y20 summit

One of our recent graduates, Mr Oliver Rieche (2013), will be one of five German delegates attending the Y20 Summit in Turkey this August.

A group of extraordinary young leaders from across the G20 countries will gather together at this summit in order to identify the most pressing global challenges facing young people.

The Y20 Turkey Summit will be held on the 16th-21st August 2015. Y20 represents the young and innovative voice of the G20 Summits offering a forum for 100 participants from the G20 states. This year the negotiations centre around three main topics: ‘Youth’s contribution to Peace’, ‘Impact of Technology and Innovation on Youth Unemployment’ and ‘Youth and Education in the 21st Century.’

The head delegates will deliver the Final Communiqué and present the proposals to the Heads of State at  the G20 Summit in Antalya, Turkey in November 2015.

Oliver Rieche (26) is acting as Head Delegate for Germany. As such, he is responsible for the Final Communiqué and the internal communication amongst the delegation. In addition to this, he is also delegate for ‘Youth’s Contribution to Peace’ where he will be focusing on the Syrian refugee crisis as well as G20/LDC (Least Developed Countries) relations. Oliver currently works at a law firm in
London and has undertaken numerous internships with international organisations, including UNHCR and the European External Action Service.
