Delegate Information

General information for guests staying in the College, either for business or pleasure.

Car Parking arranged through your organiser if part of a event staying at Queens – there is very limited parking in College.

Children in Accommdoaiton Given the nature of the buildings and grounds, it is College policy that no bookings can be taken for guests to stay in College accommodation accompanied by children under 16 years of age. If a booking is made that does include children under the age of 16 years, should this occur, we reserve the right to terminate the bookings at point of registration, no monies will be refunded and we may charge for the entire cost of the stay booked in the College.

The event organiser is to accept responsibility to ensure that their guests comply with the rules set out above regarding minors staying in the College

College Bar is situated in Cripps Court. Opening hours by arrangement.

College Chapel is open to visitors most afternoons.

College History Souvenirs and postcards of the College can be purchased from the College shop in the Old Court Gate Tower.

Dining Hall Situated in Cripps Court. Please see the notice board in the lobby of the Dining Hall for details of Meal Times. Please arrive promptly for dinner.

Doctor In emergencies contact the Porters’ Lodge.

Door Locks To lock the doors in Cripps Court bedrooms, push button on inside door handle and pull door shut. Remember to take your key with you. Valuables should not be left in rooms.

Electricity Supply 240 volts, 50Hz AC, sockets in the rooms accept 13 amp 3-pin rectangular plugs.

Emergencies In the event of an emergency, contact the Porters’ Lodge on 01223 335500 or break the glass on a manual call point in the event of a fire.

Fire Safety Please observe and familiarise yourself with the fire instructions in your room.

Guests Guests invited into the College by delegates are the responsibility of their hosts. Guests may not remain in the College between midnight and 6am.

Heating for your comfort the radiators within your room are thermostatically controlled. Please adjust for desired temperature.

Housekeeping Should you have any difficulties, the office is situated in CC4, Cripps Court or the telephone number is 01223 335585, available Mon-Fri. If not available please contact the Porters Lodge.

Internet Services (Bedrooms) Every bedroom should be supplied with an ethernet cable cord, plugged into a live internet socket, with the other end left on the desk.
Adjacent to the ethernet plug on the desk is a set of instructions on how to register for internet access. At present wireless internet access (communal areas) and wired internet access (bedrooms) are by different ticketing systems.

Internet Services (Meeting Rooms) The organiser of your conference will issue you with a temporary user ticket to the University of Cambridge ‘Lapwing Wireless Network’. Please follow the instructions contained on the user ticket

Irons are available from the Porters’ Lodge.

Keys Please ensure that room keys are returned to Conference Organisers or the Porters’ Lodge by 9.30am on day of departure, otherwise a charge will be made. Keys have a freepost returnable tag.

Launderette A coin operated launderette is available by FF staircase in Cripps Court.

Lost property Please enquire at the Porters’ Lodge.

Mail Mail can be obtained from the Porters’ Lodge. There is a post box in Queens’ Lane by the main Old Gate Tower. Collection time: 6.30 pm

Multi-gym On payment of a deposit an access card is available from the Porters’ Lodge. A disclaimer will need to be completed.

Personal Property The College does not accept liability for the loss or damage to any property brought onto the premises or on behalf of other persons. Appropriate insurance cover should be obtained by delegates. Always keep the door of your room locked when it is unoccupied.

Photocopying Facilities are available at the Conference Office (Bottom of FF staircase in Cripps Court).

Porters On hand to offer help with problems 24 hours a day.

Room Maintenance To rectify any problems please complete the form in your room and return to the Housekeeping Office or the Porters’ Lodge.

Sport
• Tennis: booking and entrance keys to the hard courts at the Sportsground from the Porters’ Lodge. Flat-soled shoes should be worn.
• Squash Courts: situated in Lyon Court, booked at the Porters’ Lodge and require a £1 coin to operate lights.
• Punts: keys from the Porters’ Lodge. Users must sign the book identifying themselves as conference delegates and acquaint themselves with the conditions of borrowing a punt in the front of the book.

Towels To help the environment, if you don’t wish your towel to be changed, please leave it on the towel rail.

Tourist Information Centre The Tourist Information Centre in Peas Hill is open between 10am and 5pm Monday – Saturday and between 11am and 3pm on Sundays.

Vegetarian and Special Diets These should be pre-ordered with your organiser.
