Thinking of Applying
Cambridge University is famous for its academic excellence. You need to be a high-performer in your academic studies to study here (for details of the kind of grades you would need, see here). It is also important that you choose Cambridge for the right reason: the main purpose of being here is your university course, so you need to make sure that the course is right for you. You can find more information about the courses in the undergraduate prospectus, and also in the subjects pages of this website.
Diversity
If you are successful and motivated in your academic studies, and the course you are thinking of interests you, then we encourage you to apply to Queens'. Those are the only criteria on which we base our admissions decisions. There is no such thing as the 'normal' Queens' student - our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. So whichever school you come from, whichever part of the country and indeed the world you come from, you are welcome here!
If you come from a school which doesn't traditionally send a lot of students to Cambridge, or if you are a teacher at one of those schools, please get in touch with our Schools Liaison Officer, who can organise a visit to your school or can show you round college. Alternatively click here for more details of our Open Days.
Deferred entry
Many people erroneously think that it is impossible to have a gap year and then come to Cambridge. This College encourages deferred entry for all subjects (yes, even Maths!). We strongly urge students to consider taking a year out and we will ask you about it at interview. No one is pressured to take a gap year but we feel it is beneficial to both the student and to the College.
