The Form
Making an application.
British and EU applicants no longer complete two forms (unless applying as an Organ or Choral Scholar). There is also no longer an application fee for British or EU students. 'Overseas' candidates will still need to complete a paper application (COAF) and post it to the College of their choice, together with an application fee (see here for details), and the on-line UCAS form.
N.B. 'Overseas' for the purposes of completing a COAF is ANYONE who lives - and is at school in any Country outside the EU - REGARDLESS OF NATIONALITY so, a British student at school in the USA must complete a COAF, An American student at school in the UK or elsewhere in Europe does not. Swiss students DO complete a COAF.
For British and EU applicants the process will now be - Complete your on-line UCAS form, with Cambridge as one of your University choices, and submit by 15 October 2010. This will generate an on-line Supplementary Application Questionnaire. This is nothing new, we have been asking students to fill in SAQ's for years, but from now on it will be an on-line version, rather than a paper one. Students outside the EU should read the University Prospectus page for International Students here which fully explains the new procedures.
Candidates for the Organ or Choral Scholarships will also still have to complete a paper version of the application form and should read the information here
Filling in forms can be tedious, but it helps us a great deal if you spend a bit of time doing things properly. Please ensure that all your contact details, especially e-mail addresses and phone numbers, are correct to enable us to contact you if we need to. Information about your AS and A2 modules and other marks are very important to us, so please ensure you fill in everything we ask.
There will still be a box on the SAQ where you can give us any extra information that you feel we need to know. Don't feel obliged to fill it in - many people have already covered everything in their Personal Statements. If, however, you're applying for a variety of courses and have therefore written a generic Personal Statement, this box gives you an opportunity to say something specifically about your motivation for applying to Cambridge for a particular course.
